As conservatives, we compassionately but unapolagetically uphold the traditional views of our Judeo-Christian nation concerning certain sexual perversions that are unfortunately popular among contemporary young people. In line with well-established moral theology, we do not seek to deny anyone's right to be whomever they think they are emotionally, and we oppose violence against them. However, certain acts have never been endorsed by any major civilization or religion and these we do not blush to condemn.
Columbia is not generally afflicted with this problem more badly than other universities, though Barnard remains a center for radical lesbian propaganda and the College has recently allowed a sado-masochists' club called Conversio Virium the status of a student organization. Make no mistake about the principal purpose of such groups. We do not seek to abridge anyone's right to freedom of association, but it is on grounds of both morals and public health not appropriate for the university to assist students in actualizing their unnatural impulses. This is particularly true as students are at a time in their lives when their sexual judgement is not yet fully formed and they may have to live for years with the consequences of ill-considered experimentation in college. The simple fact is that restraint saves lives.
